At 1714 hrs, Station 18 and New Castle County Paramedics were dispatched to the area of River Road and Saienni Blvd. for a Serious Motor Vehicle Accident involving a motorcycle. Squad 18 and Deputy Chief 18 responded. With the report, additional resources were dispatched, including Rescue 15 from Delaware City Volunteer Fire Company, No. 1, Inc., Station 15 and Ambulance 28 from Wilmington Manor Fire Company. Squad 18 arrived to find a head-on collision, with a vehicle on fire. Units provided care to the injured, and operated for approximately 1 hour to extinguish the fire and secure hazards. The scene was turned over to Delaware State Police while they investigate. Deputy Chief 18 held the New Castle Command.
