MVC - Vehicle on Fire

At approximately 9:20pm on Thursday 3/2, Good Will units along with Delaware City Fire Company, New Castle County Paramedics, and Delaware State Police Aviation Section were alerted to River Road (SR9) just South of Federal School Lane for a Motor Vehicle Accident with Fire. Ambulances B-18 and A-15 along with Squad 18, Rescue Engine 15, Chiefs 18 and 15, and Medic 2C all made an immediate response. Upon arrival, B-18 reported a vehicle off the roadway and on fire. The crew from Squad 18 and Rescue Engine 15 worked together to access the vehicle and extinguish the fire. Sadly, one occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained. Units operated on scene for approximately 1 hour. Fire Police and Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) controlled traffic around the scene for approximately 4 hours while the Delaware State Police investigated.
